Stephanie is a Center for Health Journalism 2022 Data Fellow. She took the long way around to the The Courier Journal. She started her journalism career in the sports departments of newspapers in Oklahoma, Ohio and Texas before flipping over to the broadcast side where she learned investigative and accountability reporting, specifically focused on safer sidelines for high school athletes. She is currently focused on the intersections of topics, including health and safety in sports. She is a DuPont and Emmy-award winning reporter. She is always down for a road trip if it includes a stop at Buc-ees.
To investigate safety in high school athletics, a reporter organized a national network of advisers.
The private organizations – many of them honoring fallen athletes – are assisting schools directly, but donations haven't been keeping up with demand.
