Susan Szuch is a reporter who writes about health and public policy, as well as local food and drink, for the Springfield News-Leader in Springfield, Missouri. Prior to that, she spent time in west central Nebraska, which sparked her interest in rural health care. Szuch has been recognized by the Nebraska Press Association in 2021 for her reporting on the COVID-19 pandemic as well as by the Foundation for Biomedical Research in 2015 for her reporting on cancer research involving dogs at her alma mater, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
